An Evaluation of Memory Contention in Global Memory Systems

چکیده
Queueing system model has been used to study the performance of Global Memory Management Systems. We extended the AMVA solution presented in 1] to model a multi-class system where applications can have diierent access patterns, i.e., diierent page fault rates. We believe this model is more accurate since it can capture sudden changes in application behavior when predicting the response time of a system. We validate our multiclass AMVA solution against the original single-class model. We run experiments for a set of six diierent applications to assess the impact on the average response time of the presence of a small number of clients with high fault rate in the system. We also run experiments considering load imbalance across the servers. The results show how load imbalance can increase the already signiicant degradation on performance when high fault rate customers are added to the system.

In the last two decades, there has been an increasing interest in structural engineering control methods. Shape memory alloys and seismic isolation systems are examples of passive control systems that use of any one alone, effectively improve the seismic performance of the structure. Characteristics such as large strain range without any residual deformation, high damping capacity, excellent re...
متن کاملEffects of gabaergic and morphinergic systems in CA1 nucleus on anxiety and arousal memory based on test-retest paradigm
Hippocampus is a key structure in anxiety processing and memory storage. The purpose of this study was to investigate the interaction between GABAergic systems in CA1 area of hippocampus with morphinergic system in modulating of these behaviors. In this study, male wistar rats were cannulated with stereotaxic surgery in CA1 site. After a recovery period, morphine (µ opioid receptor agonist) was...
متن کاملHistorical Memory, Ethnic Identity and Globalization: an Intergenerational Study in Sanandaj
Identity and collective memory is one of the fascinating subjects in modern sociology. In Iran, it arose again as modern and government-nation discourse emerged, and has been endlessly discussed since then. Such subjects have assumed an increasing importance due to the multi-cultural and multi-ethical existence of Iranian society and recent global developments. Accordingly, the present study ha...
متن کاملA Comparative Review of Contention-Aware Scheduling Algorithms to Avoid Contention in Multicore Systems
Contention for shared resources on multicore processors is an emerging issue of great concern, as it affects directly performance of multicore CPU systems. In this regard, Contention-Aware scheduling algorithms provide a convenient and promising solution, aiming to reduce contention, by applying different thread migration policies to the CPU cores. The main problem faced by latest research when...
متن کاملReducing Contention for Run Queue in Shared-Memory Multiprocessor Systems
Performance of parallel processing systems is sensitive to various hardware and software overheads and contention for hardware and software resources. Hardware resources such as interconnection network and memory introduce communication contention and memory contention that could seriously impact overall system performance. Software resources include critical data structures maintained by appli...
متن کاملSulfur dioxide reduces hippocampal cells death and improves learning and memory deficits in rat model of transient global ischemia/reperfusion
Objective(s): According to recent the findings, sulfur dioxide (SO2) is produced by the cardiovascular system, influencing some major biological processes. Based on previous research, SO2 exhibits antioxidant effects and inhibits apoptosis following cardiac ischemia/reperfusion. Therefore, the objective of the current study was to examine the neuroprotective impact of SO2 following global cereb...
